I hear ‘Fado’ mixed with more contemporary music. Fado is Portugal’s music tradition. Eurovision should be an occasion for each country to bring their own culture into it, Portugal has been doing this for years in the competition. We are proud of our roots, our history and our culture. @iolandamusic created pure art with this performance! She translated so well Portugal and the theme of the song (mental health issues, resilience and strength) into this song, the dancers (her demons) poetically interpreting the powerful lyrics. I’m so impressed with everything! Her voice, her performance, the melody, the back vocals, the instruments, inclusive of our ‘cavaquinho’, the dancers, the direction of camera, the entire production - all together enhancing the song perfectly and so beautifully. I can’t express enough how proud I feel for Ioland to represent my country with this masterpiece! Stunning! You go girl - you can be whatever you want to be and thanks for reminding me that I can also.
